Labor & Delivery Nurse – Brooklyn, NY
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Labor & Delivery nurse to join the obstetric team. This is a 13-week contract assignment, working nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), beginning October 26, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State RN license with Primary Source Verification from NYSED
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or Bachelor's degree (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of maternal and child health nursing experience
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- 2+ years of experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, and conscious sedation
- Experience with fetal monitoring, high-risk obstetrics, and both vaginal and cesarean deliveries
Preferred Qualifications
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
Clinical Responsibilities
You will provide direct care to laboring patients, including:
- Continuous fetal and maternal monitoring; assessment and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns and uterine contractions
- Administration of labor induction/augmentation agents and epidural support per physician orders
- Assistance with vaginal deliveries and cesarean section support
- Management of high-risk OB conditions (preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress) with emergency interventions
- Immediate newborn care and resuscitation support
- Patient and family education on labor progress and pain management options
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with OB physicians, midwives, anesthesia, and NICU teams
- Accurate documentation and emotional support throughout the childbirth experience
