Same Day Surgery Center – PACU RN

Shift & Schedule

7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | 32 hours/week guaranteed, with additional hours from call

Call required: 2–3 days/week (including weekends, 4 hours/shift)

13-week contract

About the Role

You'll work in a Same Day Surgery Center managing the full patient journey—admissions, Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care, and discharges for adult and geriatric surgical and procedure patients. The 8-bay unit typically sees up to 17 patients per day. While your primary focus is PACU, you'll step into the operating room to assist as needed. The Surgical Services department operates 2 ORs and a procedure room, providing mostly outpatient procedures with limited inpatient care.

What You'll Do

• Conduct nursing admission assessments and discharge planning
• Manage Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia care
• Perform IV starts and patient education
• Prepare the OR for surgery and patients for procedures
• Communicate and coordinate care with nursing and physician colleagues
• Prioritize strong time management and excellent customer service

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years same-day surgery experience (firm requirement)
• Experience in a rural OR outpatient facility
• Admitting and discharge experience
• Phase I and II/PACU certification
• BLS and ACLS (AHA)
• Current RN license (Vermont)
• Own vehicle (required)

Preferred

• PACU/ICU experience
• Travel experience

Hospital-provided scrubs. Maximum 5 days time-off approved; all scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application.
