Surgical ICU – Night Shift Nurse
Position Overview
This is a 14-week contract with every-other-weekend requirements.
Clinical Scope
Requirements
- Current RN license (CA)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS certification
- Background experience with surgical patients and high-acuity postoperative care
Schedule & Floating
- 12-hour nights, every other weekend
- First to float to other Sacramento-area facilities (mid-shift float is rare)
- Self-scheduling with 4-week advance notice; schedules finalized by manager
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- 1–2 day floor-specific orientation with preceptor
Support Team
Hospitalist or intensivist in-house. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7. Charge nurse role typically does not carry patient load except for break relief.
Dress Code
Navy scrubs required; white or black underscrubs permitted. Jackets optional (navy only).
