Emergency Department (ED) — Travel RN

Latrobe, PA | 13-Week Contract | Rotating 3x12s

This ED position serves a combined adult and pediatric population across the full age spectrum — neonates through geriatrics — in a high-volume environment averaging up to 80 visits per day. The unit holds stroke certification and serves as a chest pain referral site, with additional capabilities in adolescent behavioral health.

Shift Details

• Rotating shifts: Days (07:00–19:00) and Nights (19:00–07:30)
• Weekend coverage required
• Holiday rotation: every other holiday

Clinical Scope

Nurses in this role manage a broad and acute patient mix. Key skills utilized include:

• Ventilator and BiPAP/CPAP management
• Chest tube insertion and management
• IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and paralytic drips
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Stroke (CVA) and neurological assessment
• Psychiatric holds and management of suicidal/behavioral health patients
• Trauma, toxicology, and multisystem organ dysfunction cases
• , 12-lead EKG acquisition, and phlebotomy

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of ED experience
• Active PA or Compact RN license
• Certifications required (AHA only): ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, PALS
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to float within the facility and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Two supervisor references preferred

Pre-start modules (~1 hour) must be completed before the first day on unit. Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24–48 hours of signing.
