Med Surg Tele

RN – Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Orthopedic) | Night Shift | Columbia, SC

This 13-week night shift assignment places you on a telemetry-capable orthopedic spine unit specializing in post-operative care for patients undergoing spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies. The unit also manages a broad med/surg telemetry population with diagnoses such as low-risk ACS, TIAs, DVT/PE, COPD, diabetes, hypertension, chest pain, and dehydration.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 4x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required (6 weekend shifts per contract)

Clinical Scope

• Comprehensive pain management and mobility/physical therapy support
• Special procedures: bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post-renal biopsy, CT angiography, and heparin drip management
• Interdisciplinary support includes IV therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services

Floating

Float to other units or campuses may be required based on census needs; floating is limited to areas where your competencies are documented.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience, orthopedic experience required
• Active South Carolina or multistate (compact) license — no pending licenses accepted
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, Dysrhythmia
• Minimum 1 year of electronic health record experience required
• First-time travelers welcome

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials (up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable)
• Orientation held every Monday
