Oncology

Med Surg Oncology | Travel RN | Nights | Jackson, TN

This 13-week night shift contract places you on a Med Surg/Telemetry unit specializing in oncology, hematology, and general medical-surgical telemetry patients. The unit provides strong interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, and social services.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3×12-hour shifts)
• Start: ASAP (orientations held every Monday)
• No block scheduling or special schedule requests accommodated

Clinical Scope

The unit manages a diverse patient population across oncology/hematology and med-surg telemetry. Key competencies include:

• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Central line, PICC line, and port management
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow nasal cannula management
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Heparin and IV insulin protocols
• CVA management, tracheostomy care, chest tube management
• Blood product administration, PCA, wound care/wound vac
• Telemetry monitoring on the unit

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; travel experience preferred
• Active compact or TN license required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Recent electronic health records experience (within the last 18 months) required and must be clearly documented; candidates must pass a competency exam — one attempt only
• Willingness to float to other Med Surg/Tele units
• Two supervisory references required at submission
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered); flu vaccine required with no exemptions
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
