Night Shift RN – Medical Surgical Telemetry Unit

Position Overview

Join the medical surgical telemetry unit for a 13-week night shift contract. You'll provide direct patient care on a unit equipped to monitor telemetry while managing a diverse medical-surgical population.

Shift & Schedule

• 3x12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend; holidays as needed
• Float required to other facilities as staffing needs arise
• 24 hours of orientation provided

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

The unit cares for adults and geriatrics with:

• General medical-surgical diagnoses
• Respiratory conditions (oxygen levels up to 6L nasal cannula or facemask)
• Observation and surgical patients
• Palliative, end-of-life, and hospice patients
• Psychiatric observation cases
• Diabetes management (new diagnoses and complications)
• Physiologically stable, hemodynamically stable patients not requiring cardiac drips

Patient Ratio & Responsibilities

• 5–6 patients per nurse
• Routine vital signs; new admits monitored every 4 hours for 24 hours
• Assess every 12 hours minimum
• Manage ports, IVs, blood products, feeding tubes, wound care, surgical drains, and telemetry monitoring
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Non-invasive airway management (BiPAP/CPAP)

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
• Active RN license at submission
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficiency in electronic charting

Special Requirement

• Pass an EKG compliance exam during onboarding (2 attempts allowed)
