Medical-Surgical Nurse

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Med-Surg RN for a 13-week contract on the night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) in New York City.

Your Role

You'll provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions. Your responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, and implementing individualized patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team
• Monitoring vital signs and responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administering medications and treatments per physician orders
• Managing pre- and post-operative care, including wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertion, and IV therapy
• Coordinating care for patients with chronic and acute conditions (cardiac, respiratory, diabetes, and others)
• Educating patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Collaborating on discharge planning with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Adhering to infection control and fall prevention protocols

Requirements

• Active RN license in New York State with primary source verification
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg experience in an acute care setting (recent experience within the past year required)
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification required
• Associate's degree in nursing
• Strong physical assessment, medication administration, wound care, and IV therapy skills
• Experience with telemetry monitoring

Preferred Qualifications

• CMSRN certification
• BSN
• Previous EMR experience
