ICU / CVICU Travel RN — North Charleston, SC

Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 13-Week Contract | Start: August 17, 2026

This mixed ICU position offers high-acuity cardiovascular and neuroscience nursing in a fast-paced environment in the North Charleston area. The unit manages a diverse ICU patient population, including holds from PCU and med-surg.

Shift & Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend required; holidays rotate with staff

Clinical Scope

The unit handles complex cardiovascular and neurological cases, including:

• Post-op day-0 CABG (fresh hearts from the OR)
• Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump management
• Swan-Ganz catheterization and advanced hemodynamics
• Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVD, and bolt management
• Induced hypothermia protocols
• CRRT
• Head and neck flap procedure care
• Respiratory treatments (inhalers and nebulizers) administered by nursing
• Bedside shift report at every transfer of care

Float Requirements

Travelers float first and may be assigned to the emergency department or PCU to cover ICU/PCU holds.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 36 months RN experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU
• BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Comfort managing ventilated patients
• Telemetry strip proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior CVICU or Neuro ICU experience
• BSN and advanced certifications (e.g., CCRN, TNCC)
• Prior travel nursing experience
• CRRT and advanced hemodynamics experience
