Emergency Department RN — Kansas City, MO
4 x 12-Hour Shifts | 14:00–02:00 | 13-Week Contract
This mid-shift Emergency Department position offers 48 guaranteed hours and a 13-week engagement in a busy, multi-area ED caring for a diverse patient population across varying acuity levels.
Unit Overview
The ED operates across three distinct areas: a Rapid treatment zone, a Main treatment area, and a psych-safe pod. Clinicians manage a wide range of emergent and urgent cases, with regular exposure to behavioral health presentations alongside standard emergency cases.
Clinical Scope & Procedures
- Ventilator and BiPAP management
- Arterial line monitoring
- EKG interpretation
- Chest tube management
- Port placement assistance
- De-escalation of behavioral health patients
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong prioritization and time management in a fast-paced ED environment
- De-escalation training required; CPI certification preferred
- Experience with high-acuity and psychiatric patient populations
Schedule & Commitment
- Shift: 14:00–02:00 (mid/night coverage)
- Minimum 4 weekend shifts and 2 Fridays per 4-week schedule
- 2 major and 2 minor holidays required
- Float coverage to a nearby ED may be required
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
