Emergency Psychiatric Services – Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Crisis Psychiatric Unit. You'll provide direct and indirect patient care across the unit, developing individualized care plans, evaluating outcomes, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support recovery and wellness.
Clinical Setting
The Crisis Psychiatric Unit serves patients age 5 and up with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, psychotic disorders, and substance use requiring detoxification. Patients may require concurrent medical support alongside psychiatric care.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Flexibility required to support 24/7 operations
Requirements
- Valid State of Maine RN license (no licensure hits)
- 2-year Associate degree
- Current BLS Certification
- Current CPI training required before start
- Minimum 1 year mental health nursing experience
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage stress and make sound decisions under pressure
- Team-oriented with flexibility
Important Notes
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid
- The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per contract period
