PCU / Stepdown

Cardiac Stepdown RN — Night Shift | Columbia, SC | 13-Week Contract

This travel RN opportunity is on a cardiac stepdown unit managing adult and geriatric patients with a broad range of cardiovascular and neurological diagnoses, including STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, PPM and defibrillator placement, ablations, arrhythmias, CVA, and medical telemetry overflow.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 19:00–07:30 | 4x12-hour shifts (36 or 48 hours/week accepted)
• Self-scheduling
• 36-hour orientation

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS and ACLS
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Medication and arrhythmia exam required prior to start

Clinical Skills Required

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Titrating cardiac drips and heparin protocols
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Central line and peripheral line care
• Chest tube management
• Blood product administration
• Tracheostomy care
• Telemetry monitoring; PCA management
• Phlebotomy and IV insertion/maintenance

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of RN experience; cardiac stepdown background strongly preferred
• 1 year of recent electronic medical records experience required

Additional Details

• Float requirement: Staff may be asked to float to other units or campuses based on census needs; floating is limited to demonstrated competencies only
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules required within 48 hours of system access; up to 16 module hours are reimbursable
• Flu vaccine required; no exemptions
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
