Registered Nurse – Critical Care (PACU)
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). You'll provide direct care to post-operative patients during their recovery phase, working day shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) on a 13-week contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery, supporting medical staff protocols and hospital policies.
- Conduct hourly rounding in collaboration with Licensed Nursing Assistants on all assigned patients.
- Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation and care plans for each patient.
- Assist with specialized procedures including Flow wire, Opsens, and IVUS insertions.
- Safely administer procedural sedation; maintain competency through annual examination.
- Demonstrate knowledge of IV adenosine contraindications and reversal protocols.
- Communicate patient information effectively across shifts and with the care team to ensure safe continuity.
- Identify and address patient safety concerns promptly.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and DNV survey readiness activities.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to a Just Culture environment that supports error reporting and safe practices.
Required Qualifications
- Current New Hampshire RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (ACLS not required for Pre-Admission Testing or OR).
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- 3 years of critical care experience preferred.
Preferred Certifications (to be obtained during orientation if needed)
- Basic Dysrhythmia certification.
- NHISS certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.
Contract Details
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (day shift)
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours: 40 hours guaranteed per week
