Medical Lab Tech
Clinical Laboratory Scientist | Fort Bragg, CA | 4×10 Days
This is a 13-week contract assignment in a critical access hospital serving a coastal Northern California community, with a target start date of late October 2026.
Shift & Schedule
- 4×10-hour shifts, day shift with variable start times around 8:00 AM
About the Role
You'll work in a core laboratory setting performing a broad range of clinical testing, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, microbiology, and referral testing. The position also involves some stat microbiology. You'll prioritize orders by urgency (STAT, ASAP, routine, and timed studies), conduct quality control checks, and evaluate results for validity and accuracy — including delta checks, linearity, and correlation with clinical diagnoses.
Additional responsibilities include proper specimen collection (including phlebotomy as needed), labeling, handling, processing, and storage. Mentoring laboratory trainees and assistants may also be expected.
Requirements
- Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license — required
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemistry, or related field — required
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical laboratory experience
- ASCP or NCA certification — preferred
- Current BLS certification
- Prior experience with a laboratory information system; familiarity with electronic health records preferred
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks (91 days)
