Telemetry RN – Night Shift | Bryan/College Station, TX | 42-Week Contract

This position is based on a busy Telemetry unit that operates as part of a three-pod monitor program (Telemetry, Tele-Observation, and Tele-Neuro Stroke). The unit serves cardiac and telemetry patients including those with CHF, dysrhythmias, post-CABG care, Watchman procedures, and EP cases.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM – 6:45 AM
• Every other weekend (Friday/Saturday nights)
• Self-scheduling available, balanced by manager; block scheduling permitted
• Holiday coverage required (2 major, 2 minor)
• 48-hour weekly guarantee (36-hour considered case by case)

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS

Clinical Requirements

• Must read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
• Must pass Basic Dysrhythmia exam (83%) prior to contract start — three attempts allowed
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; 2+ years preferred
• Neuro and/or cardiac background preferred
• Must be willing to precept
• Drips are set-rate only (no titration); step-by-step protocols are in place

Floating

• Primary float within the three monitor pods; occasional float to Med-Surg or higher-acuity floors (tele patients only)
• Travelers are first to float
• May be assigned to either campus (approximately 16 minutes apart)

Additional Details

• Scrubs: Navy; undershirts must also be navy
• Tele monitor techs staffed 24/7 across the pod; RNs are still required to independently read and interpret strips
• Home-regimen CPAP/BiPAP in use on the unit
• Orientation includes HR onboarding plus hands-on unit orientation with a preceptor
