Scrub Technician – Cardiovascular Surgery

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Scrub Technician to support the surgical team in the operating room. You will prepare and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, and ensure all cases run smoothly and safely.

Shift & Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Thursday (4 x 10 schedule)
• 50% on-call rotation, typically one full week at a time
• 12-week contract with 36 guaranteed hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical cases by assembling supplies, equipment, and instrumentation prior to procedures
• Set up and maintain a sterile field with strict aseptic technique
• Pass instruments, supplies, and medications to the surgical team during cases
• Perform instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN
• Manage equipment inventory and maintain a clean, organized OR environment
• Transport patients according to unit schedules
• Support clerical and housekeeping duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• CST (Certified Surgical Technician) or TS-C (NCCT) certification
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Minimum 2 years recent open heart surgery experience
• Ability to scrub open heart cases independently and in tandem with a second scrub
• Current state nursing license

Preferred Qualifications

• CNA certification
• Experience with general OR cases (robotic, orthopedic, urology, gynecology)
• Openness to teaching and training other team members
