Night Shift Trauma Nurse – 13-Week Contract

Shift & Schedule

• Night: 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Intermittent weekend coverage required
• No on-call
• Expect to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Flexible time off with facility approval

Unit Overview

The facility's emergency department manages a diverse patient population across all ages, from neonates to geriatrics. You'll care for high-acuity trauma patients in a fast-paced setting with approximately 170 daily visits. The unit includes a dedicated trauma section plus a fast-track area.

Clinical Scope

• Manage Level I and II trauma patients (note: new travelers do not take traumas initially)
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Administer blood products and IV vasopressors
• Care for ventilated patients
• and phlebotomy
• IV placement and maintenance

Requirements

• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, and PALS required at submission; NIHSS and TNCC preferred
• Experience: Minimum 2 years trauma nursing, OR 18 months from a similar facility
• License: Valid California nursing license required at submission
• Other: You will need MAB, Team, or CPI certification prior to start

Additional Information

• 4-patient ratio (nights)
• Float to other hospital units as needed
• Orientation: 36 hours
• First-time travelers welcome
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Two supervisor references preferred
