Emergency Department RN — College Station, TX

Contract: 6 Weeks | Shift: Mid-shift (varied start times: 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, or 3 PM) | Hours: 48 hrs/week guaranteed (36-hr guarantee considered)

This ED position serves a diverse patient population including pediatric patients, cardiac cases, STEMIs, strokes, trauma, and general emergency presentations such as abdominal pain, respiratory complaints, and GI issues. The unit sees approximately 70 patients daily and includes a Fast Track area, a separate zone open to travelers, and intermixed ER holds managed by the bedside RN.

Schedule & Float:

• Mid-shifts, every other weekend required
• Holidays rotated with permanent staff
• Travelers are first to float; floating is uncommon and supportive in nature
• No on-call requirement

Clinical Environment:

• Acuity-based nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charge nurse is generally patient-free
• 2 PCTs per shift; may occasionally serve as sitters
• Respiratory therapy on-site for ABGs and breathing treatments; RNs manage ventilator troubleshooting
• RNs perform and interpret their own cardiac monitoring strips and EKGs
• Phlebotomy available in the ED
• X-ray and CT imaging nearby with transport assistance

Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NIHSS

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of ED experience; first-time travelers welcome
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83% passing score) prior to contract start — three attempts allowed
• May be asked to precept as needed
• Navy scrubs required; undershirts and optional jacket must also be navy

Orientation: 1–3 shifts based on experience, with a structured checkoff packet
