Emergency Room RN – Night Shift | College Station, TX

12-Hour Nights | 42-Week Contract | Every Other Weekend

This Emergency Department opportunity places you in a fast-paced acute care setting managing a diverse patient population including pediatrics, cardiac, STEMI, stroke, trauma, abdominal pain, respiratory, and GI presentations. The department averages approximately 70 patients per day.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 6:45 PM – 7:00 AM start
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays integrated with permanent staff rotation
• No call or standby requirement
• Travelers are first to float; floating is infrequent

Unit Details

• Charge nurse is generally patient-free
• 2 PCTs per shift; RNs may occasionally assist as sitters
• Phlebotomy on-site; RNs draw EKGs
• Respiratory therapy available for ABGs, breathing treatments, and vent management; RNs troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• X-Ray and CT available nearby; staff assist with transport
• RNs read and interpret their own cardiac monitor strips
• Common drips include pressors and sedation agents
• Psych screening and placement handled by dedicated staff

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience (first-time travelers considered)
• Active RN license
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC, NIHSS
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam at 83% or higher prior to contract signing (three attempts allowed)

Scrub Color: Navy; undershirts must be navy

Orientation: 1–3 shifts based on experience, with a structured check-off packet

Guaranteed Hours: 48 per week (36-hour guarantee considered on a case-by-case basis)
