NICU Registered Nurse
Position Overview
Join the NICU team at the facility for a 13-week contract. You'll provide specialized care to neonates in a Level III NICU setting, supporting approximately 190 births per month.
Shift & Schedule
- Night shift: 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend; may extend to meet unit needs
- No on-call required
- Start: ASAP
- Guaranteed hours (facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks)
Experience & Certifications Required
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience
- At least 1 year specialized NICU experience
- Valid compact state license at time of submission
- BLS, NRP (Advanced preferred; willing to obtain before start), and PALS
Clinical Scope
You'll care for a range of neonate populations including premature infants, feeders and growers, and neonates with respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, jaundice, and hypoglycemia. Daily responsibilities include:
- Central line and PICC line management
- Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP)
- High-frequency ventilation and oscillators
- Gavage, bottle, and breastfeeding support
- Medication administration (dopamine, dobutamine, fentanyl, versed, surfactants)
- Therapeutic hypothermia, phototherapy, and spinal taps
- Patient and family education
Float Expectations
May float to Mother-Baby unit for couplet care as needed.
Additional Notes
- All time-off requests must be submitted with your application
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Navy blue scrubs for RNs
