NICU RN – Night Shift

Position: NICU RN

Shift: Night 3×12-hour (18:00–06:30)

Duration: 13 weeks

Start: ASAP

Schedule: Every other weekend; may exceed to meet unit census needs

About the Role

The facility's Level III NICU manages approximately 190 births per month and provides specialized care for neonates and infants. You'll care for patients ranging from 29 weeks gestation through feeders and growers, managing complex diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, hypoglycemia, jaundice, and sepsis.

Clinical Scope

Your responsibilities will include:

• Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BiPAP)
• Central line and PICC line placement and maintenance
• Umbilical arterial and venous catheter management
• Hemodynamic monitoring and IV vasopressor titration
• High-frequency oscillator and nitric oxide therapy
• Intubations, spinal taps, and ROP exams
• Feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), phototherapy, and therapeutic hypothermia
• Neonatal dosage calculations and medication administration
• Support for high-risk deliveries and mother–baby couplet care (if experience permits)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; at least 1 year in NICU specialty
• Certifications: BLS, NRP (Advanced preferred; willing to obtain before start accepted), PALS
• Compact state license required
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently on nights

• Float: May float to Mother/Baby units for couplet cases if qualified
• Call: No on-call required
• Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
