Physical Therapist Assistant

Physical Therapist Assistant | Inpatient & Outpatient Float | Petaluma, CA

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Day, 5×8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) | Start: October 2026

This contract PTA role spans both inpatient and outpatient settings at a community hospital in Petaluma, CA. The primary focus is acute care — largely med-surg and hospitalist referrals — with the possibility of a mixed inpatient/outpatient caseload depending on census needs.

What to Expect Clinically:

• Adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations
• Diagnoses include orthopedic conditions (total hip/knee, post-op spinal and shoulder surgeries), neurological conditions (stroke, TBI, Parkinson's disease, MS), and cardiopulmonary presentations (CHF, COPD)
• Treatments include gait training, therapeutic exercise, functional mobility, assistive device training, and home exercise program development
• No wound care required
• Interdisciplinary team includes respiratory, social services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response

Candidate Must-Haves:

• Minimum 1 year of experience (2 years preferred)
• Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings with adult populations
• Strong time management and ability to work independently — you may be the sole therapist in acute care on weekends
• Active California PT license (compact license must be in hand at submission)
• BLS certification

Scheduling Notes:

• Float to a nearby sister facility may be required; refusal to float may affect guaranteed hours
• Commitment to 3 of 5 holidays required (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront — post-offer RTO may not be accommodated
• Orientation: approximately 40 hours
