Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Travel RN

Burlington, NC | Days, 3x12 (07:00–19:30) | 13-Week Contract

This Cardiac Medical Progressive Care unit provides specialized care for adult patients seven days a week, with rooms continuously monitored by a centralized cardiac monitoring team. Nurse assistants are available 24/7, with unit secretary support through evening hours.

Patient Population & Clinical Focus

• Primary: Congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out MI, syncope, pacemaker placement
• Secondary: Respiratory conditions including COPD, ia, and BiPAP management

Required Skills

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Telemetry monitoring (on-unit)
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Peripheral and PICC line management
• Cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration
• Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Chest tube management
• Tracheostomy care
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Rapid Response Team experience preferred

Schedule & Ratios

• 3x12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Self-assisted scheduling based on departmental need and patient acuity

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of cardiac PCU experience required
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• EKG competency exam required (2 attempts allowed)
• Active license must be in hand at time of submission
• No local candidates within 50 miles
• First-time travelers welcome
• Floating to other system campuses may be required
