Emergency Department RN — Day Shift
Position Overview
Join the emergency department as a day shift RN providing direct patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You'll work 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM shifts over a 13-week contract with guaranteed 36 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- patients safely, rapidly, and accurately upon arrival
- Conduct comprehensive head-to-toe assessments across all age groups (pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, general population)
- Assess and manage pain; educate patients and families on pain management strategies
- Monitor hemodynamic status, interpret cardiac rhythms, and identify dysrhythmias
- Communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient status changes and diagnostic results
- Prepare, hang, and monitor IV fluids
- Maintain accurate documentation and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Assist physicians with emergency department procedures
- Supervise temporary and new staff as assigned
- Uphold safety, infection control, and departmental standards
Required Qualifications
- Accredited nursing school graduate
- Minimum 1 year critical care experience (emergency room experience preferred)
- Current California RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Proficiency in English (reading and verbal communication)
- Basic computer skills
