ICU

Burn ICU — Travel RN | Night Shift | Kansas City, MO

This is a 13-week contract on a specialized Burn ICU, nights (19:00–07:00), with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The unit is an adult-only, mixed-acuity environment where patients are managed from admission through discharge regardless of acuity level — ICU, PCU, and telemetry-level care all occur within the same unit.

Clinical Scope

The unit cares for adult burn patients requiring complex wound management and critical care support. Procedures include debridement, dressing changes, central line insertion, chest tube insertions and maintenance, and post-operative procedural care. The team utilizes CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, and vasoactive drip titration regularly.

Required Certifications

• BLS, ACLS, TNCC — required
• NIH Stroke Scale — required
• ABLS — preferred, not required

Required Skills

• ICU-level experience required; burn experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation
• CRRT training and hemodynamic monitoring experience
• Hemodynamic drip titration proficiency

Scheduling

• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
• No on-call requirements
• Float policy: agency staff float first to like units (ICU/PCU/CCU)

Dress Code

Navy blue scrub top; navy blue or black scrub pants; scrub jacket required. No t-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts.

A strong multidisciplinary model includes a dedicated burn surgeon, advanced practice providers, intensivists (24/7 coverage), rehabilitation, pharmacy, dietary, and case management. Unit-based paramedics are integrated into daily staffing. The core staff brings deep experience and maintains a collaborative, team-oriented culture that is welcoming to travel clinicians.
