Emergency Department RN — Bryan, TX

12-Hour Days | 42-Week Contract | Start Date: 10/19

This busy Emergency Department opportunity involves floating between two campuses located approximately 16 minutes apart. The department manages a high volume of patients daily across acute care beds, a dedicated vertical care area, and trauma bays. The patient population is diverse, including trauma (ground-level falls, MVAs, assaults, GSWs), pediatric cases (10–15% of volume), chest pain, altered mental status, and general medical complaints.

Schedule & Logistics

• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• 48-hour weekly guarantee (36-hour considered in some cases)
• Holiday rotation with core staff
• No on-call requirement
• Float role is helping-hands only — no patient assignment when floating

Clinical Scope

• Acuity ranges from vertical/fast-track care to resuscitation and high-acuity trauma management
• Common drips: diltiazem, nicardipine, nitroglycerin, propofol, fentanyl, norepinephrine
• Procedures include chest tube management, rapid transfusion, and intubation support
• Respiratory therapy is on-site; RNs manage airway support from nasal cannula through ventilators
• RNs monitor their own telemetry

Required Certifications

BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ED experience in a comparable, high-volume setting
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83% minimum) prior to contract signing — three attempts allowed
• Precepting may be required as needed
• Scrubs: navy (undershirts must also be navy)
• Orientation: 3 shifts on the unit
