Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN — Des Moines, IA

13-Week Travel Contract | Day Shift | 4×12 Hours

This med-surg telemetry unit cares for a diverse patient population including general medical-surgical cases, post-operative orthopedic patients (hip and knee surgeries), and overflow psychiatric patients. Remote telemetry monitoring is in place, and heparin drips are used on the unit.

Shift & Schedule

• Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday — or 3 weekend days plus 1 weekday shift (at RN discretion)
• No blocked shifts; extension beyond the initial 13 weeks is preferred

Float & Holiday Requirements

• Travelers are required to float across multiple campuses within the health system
• Must be available to work 1–2 of the three upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of Med-Surg or Med-Surg Telemetry RN experience
• Charge nurse experience required
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
• AHA or ARC BLS certification
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience caring for psychiatric patients
• Preceptor experience

• Scrubs: Navy blue solids
• First-time travelers accepted
• A professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, or director within the past 24 months is preferred
