Med/Tele RN — Night Shift | Rural Acute Care | Lufkin, TX

Contract: 13 weeks | Start: October 26, 2026

Shift: 12-hour nights, 7p–7a | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

Weekends: Every other weekend required | Holidays: Required

About the Unit

This Med/Tele unit serves a rural community patient population with a high traveler reliance and stable, long-tenured leadership. Common diagnoses include CHF, diabetes, ia, CKD, and general med/surg telemetry cases. The unit manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow patients. RNs are expected to titrate Heparin drips and independently read telemetry strips, though monitor techs assist with ongoing patient monitoring. PCTs are present on the unit.

Schedule & Float

• Block scheduling is not available; schedule is manager-assigned based on unit needs
• Floating required to other med/surg units and possibly PCU for tele holds pending transfer
• No on-call or standby requirement

Orientation

Two shadow/orientation shifts provided upon start.

Scrubs: Navy blue

Requirements

• Active RN license (Texas or compact)
• BLS (AHA) required; ACLS preferred
• 18+ months of recent Med/Tele experience
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Rural hospital experience preferred
• Team-oriented, adaptable, and self-directed
