Med/Surg Telemetry — Travel RN | Night Shift | Red Bluff, CA

This fast-paced combined adult and pediatric Med/Surg telemetry unit sees a high volume of short-stay patients, with an average length of stay of three days. Patients move quickly, and you'll need to hit the ground running.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required; holidays rotate into permanent staff schedule
• First to float (optional float to telemetry or OB if experienced)
• Self-scheduling available; schedules posted 30–45 days in advance
• Guaranteed 36 hours/week | 13-week contract | Start: November 3, 2026

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

Common diagnoses include COPD, post-op recovery, GI bleeds, OB/GYN surgery, orthopedics, sepsis, altered mental status, chest pain rule-out, stroke, cellulitis, and ETOH withdrawal. RNs manage Heparin and Protonix drips and operate CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen. A hospitalist is available for support.

Unit Support

• Team lead/charge nurse does not carry a patient assignment
• Nurse aides on unit (8- or 10-hour shifts); no tech support 1:00 AM–7:00 AM

Requirements

• 2–3 years Med/Surg and telemetry experience required
• Pediatric experience preferred; travelers without it will not be assigned pediatric patients
• Certifications: BLS (required), ACLS – AHA (required), PALS (preferred)
• BSN not required | Active CA RN license required

Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Orientation: 2–3 days on-site, beginning November 3, 2026
