PCU / Stepdown

Step-Down / Med-Surg RN | 12-Hour Days | Morgantown, WV

This flex unit serves both medical-surgical and step-down patients, adapting to patient and census needs. The patient population is diverse with primarily medical diagnoses. Both new graduates and experienced nurses are encouraged to apply.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Weekend and holiday coverage required (approximately half of recognized holidays)
• Block scheduling not guaranteed but accommodated when possible
• No call or standby requirement

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: September 29, 2026
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment

Clinical Scope

• Titration of drips per written orders: heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, opioid PCAs, and TPN
• Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and mechanical ventilation (stepdown); patients requiring ventilator adjustments transfer to ICU
• Remote telemetry surveillance and central unit monitoring available; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Clinical Associates (aides) support the unit; charge RNs and house supervisors are present 24/7

Float Requirements

• First to float to other floor or step-down units

Requirements

• Active RN license
• BLS (AHA) required
• Electronic charting experience required
• Ability to manage either a med-surg or step-down patient load

Dress Code

• Any combination of royal blue and white scrubs
