Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced OR Nurse for a 26-week contract. You'll provide circulating and/or scrub support across a variety of general surgical procedures including general surgery, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, and ENT cases.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM
- Call every other day and every other weekend
- 26-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Serve in circulating and/or scrub roles as needed
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, instruments, and equipment
- Perform pre-operative assessments and verify surgical site, consent, and procedure per protocol
- Conduct accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after each procedure
- Monitor patient safety and status throughout surgical cases
- Manage supplies, equipment, and instrumentation
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical team members
- Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and post-operative handoff to recovery staff
- Document intraoperative care accurately, including counts, medications, and patient status
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certification
- ADN or ASN minimum; BSN preferred
- 1+ years of general OR experience
- Ability to function in both circulating and scrub roles across multiple surgical specialties
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR certification
- Previous vascular or specialty OR experience
- Willingness to float to other specialties as needed
