Stepdown / Med-Surg RN — Weekend Night Shift

Morgantown, WV | 13-Week Contract | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week

This flex unit serves both floor and step-down patients based on census and acuity, caring for a diverse population with primarily medical diagnoses. The position is a dedicated weekend night shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., working either Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights, 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Weekend-only schedule (Fri–Sun or Sat–Mon)
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Expect to work approximately half of recognized holidays

Clinical Scope

• Manages both med-surg (up to 6 patients) and step-down (up to 3 patients) assignments
• Titrates drips per physician orders: heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, opioid PCAs, and TPN
• Respiratory support includes CPAP and BiPAP across the unit; step-down patients may require high-flow oxygen or ventilator management (vent setting changes escalated to ICU)
• Remote telemetry surveillance with central monitoring on unit; RNs are not required to read their own strips

Support Structure

• Charge RNs and House Supervisors on duty 24/7
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) present to support patient care

Floating

• First to float to other floor or step-down units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (willing to wait for state license)
• BLS (AHA) required
• Proficiency in electronic health record charting required
• BSN not required
• New graduates and experienced nurses both considered

Dress Code: Royal blue and/or white scrubs

Cancellation Policy: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
