Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Location: Paducah, KY
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 13-week contract
About the Role
You'll join a busy emergency department managing high-acuity, fast-paced patient care. This role requires rapid assessment, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize across multiple emergent and urgent conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and rapid assessments to determine patient acuity and care priorities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with a wide range of emergency presentations
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and protocols
- Respond to trauma activations, codes, and acute deterioration with appropriate emergency interventions
- Monitor and manage patient flow through admission, transfer, and discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately
- Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and de-escalation practices
- Support a high-volume, dynamic care environment
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Minimum 1+ year of emergency department experience
- Experience with protocols and high-acuity environments
- ADN or ASN (BSN preferred)
Preferred Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse)
