Surgical Technologist – Neurosurgery
Position Overview
The facility is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the neurosurgery operating room team. You'll serve as the primary scrub person for a variety of neuro cases, working alongside surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff in a collaborative surgical environment.
Schedule & Contract
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM (8-hour days)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- On-Call: Every 3rd weekend and 1–2 nights per week
- Float Requirement: Must be willing to assist in other surgical specialties as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Set up sterile field, instruments, and supplies; ensure all equipment is properly sterilized
- Pass instruments and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts
- Maintain sterile technique throughout cases and alert the circulating nurse of any breaks or risks
- Assist with draping, patient positioning, and electrocautery application under surgeon supervision
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure smooth case flow
- Perform gross decontamination and breakdown of instruments post-case
- Restock and prepare the OR suite for the next procedure
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- Current CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or TS-C (Tech in Surgery – Certified) certification
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and procedural anatomy
