Neuro Stepdown & Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) — Travel RN

Morgantown, WV | Nights | 13-Week Contract

This combined Neuro Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit cares for higher-acuity neuroscience patients, including those presenting with strokes, seizures, and post-craniotomy status. EMU patients are monitored for epilepsy management.

Shift & Schedule

• 3×12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Three consecutive shifts may be accommodated but are not guaranteed — flexibility is expected
• Every-other-weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Holiday rotation participation required

Clinical Scope

• High-acuity neuro stepdown patients including stroke, seizure, and post-craniotomy cases
• EVD experience preferred (perm staff are typically assigned EVD patients)
• Titration performed per physician order; common drips include amiodarone, Cardizem, nitro, dopamine, Nipride, ketamine, and insulin
• Telemetry present on unit; RNs are not required to read strips
• RT available around the clock; RNs do not need ventilator experience
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7; nurse aides available each shift

Required Certifications

• BLS (required)
• NIHSS (required — must be in hand at time of submission)
• ACLS (preferred)

Required Experience

• Strong neuro background with demonstrated stroke care experience and NIHSS implementation

• Shift: Nights | Guaranteed hours: 36/week
• Contract: 13 weeks | Start: September 29, 2026
• Float: Possible to other medical/neuro units
• Scrub color: Royal blue
• Unit orientation: 2 shifts
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• COVID vaccination required (exemptions considered)
• BSN not required
