PCU / Stepdown

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Registered Nurse | Night Shift | Greensboro, NC

Contract: 16 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Start Date: October 19, 2026

This PCU role places you in a general medical progressive care setting with all telemetry-monitored beds and centralized cardiac monitoring support. The unit manages adult patients across a range of acuities, with a primary focus on stroke, renal disorders, sepsis, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and hematological conditions. Some patients require higher levels of total care.

Schedule & Float:

• Weekend and holiday rotation; no on-call required
• Float to additional campuses as needed

Clinical Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience; first-time travelers welcome
• Proficiency with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, and EKG (compliance exam required — 2 attempts allowed)
• Peripheral line care, PICC line management, central line care
• Titration of cardiac, vasoactive, and insulin drips
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, heparin protocols, blood product administration, and tracheostomy care

Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Additional Details:

• Orientation: 36 hours
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Active RN license required at time of submission
• Third-party education verification required
• No open background cases permitted
• Flu and COVID-19 vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Modules completed during orientation are non-billable (estimated 2–4 hours)
