Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking experienced Labor and Delivery Nurses for a 13-week assignment on a dedicated L&D unit. This is a day shift role (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) in Houston, Texas, with guaranteed 36-hour weeks.
About the Unit
You'll work in a comprehensive maternal care setting that manages the full spectrum of obstetric patients—from antepartum assessment and monitoring through active labor, vaginal delivery, and cesarean sections, with dedicated PACU recovery care. The unit includes a dedicated maternal assessment center for triaging pregnant patients and operates 24/7 ancillary support with anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist coverage.
Clinical Details
- Procedures: Vaginal delivery, cesarean sections, antepartum care and testing, continuous electronic fetal monitoring
- Acuity: Mixed—antepartum, labor, and postpartum patients
Required Credentials & Skills
- RN licensure (Texas)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification
Preferred Skills
- OR circulation experience for cesarean sections
- Fetal scalp electrode (FSE) and intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement
Unit Standards
- Scrubs: Royal Blue
- Baby Friendly Designation
- Established protocols for Pitocin, cervical ripening, magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol management
