Labor & Delivery RN — Night Shift | Houston, TX
This 13-week travel contract places you on a high-volume Labor & Delivery unit in Houston, Texas. The night shift runs 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM with 36 guaranteed hours per week.
Unit Overview
The L&D unit provides full-spectrum obstetric care, including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, antepartum care and testing, PACU recovery, and continuous electronic fetal monitoring. A dedicated maternal assessment center supports of pregnant patients around the clock. Ancillary support — including anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist services — is available 24/7.
Patient Population & Acuity
Nurses care for laboring patients, antepartum patients, and post-procedure PACU patients. The unit follows established protocols for Pitocin, cervical ripening, Magnesium Sulfate, Hydralazine, and Labetalol, reflecting a high-acuity clinical environment.
Required Certifications & Skills
- AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Active RN license
Preferred Skills
- OR circulation for cesarean sections
- Placement of FSE and IUPC
