Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Cardiac
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Location: Asheville, NC
Contract: 13 weeks | Guaranteed 36 hours/week
Start Date: September 28, 2026
About the Unit
The facility's PCU manages complex cardiac patients including those with congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension, valvular disease, endocarditis, and diabetic ketoacidosis. You'll also care for post-procedure patients following cardiac catheterization, stent placement, pacemaker/ICD insertion, and ablation. Typical procedures include bedside cardioversion.
Staffing & Ratios
What You'll Need
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Stepdown or progressive care experience
- Telemetry experience
- Demonstrated competency with titratable cardiac IV medications (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drips, heparin, Bumex/Lasix)
- Preferred: Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin) and relief charge duties
Expectations
- Float to med/surg units, stepdown units, COVID unit, and ER holding as needed
- Every other weekend on-call
- Dress code: All white, all navy, or white top with navy pants
