ICU / PCU Overflow RN — Asheville, NC

Day Shift | 13-Week Contract

This combined ICU/PCU overflow unit provides high-acuity care in a fast-paced, bedside-focused environment. The unit operates without PCTs or unit secretaries, so candidates must be self-sufficient and comfortable managing a full scope of critical and progressive care responsibilities independently.

Shift & Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support expected
• No on-call requirement
• Floating to other units is required

Clinical Scope

• ICU patient management with advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management and weaning
• Critical care pharmacology: IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
• Central line care and management
• Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
• Bedside procedure assistance: chest tube insertion, intubation, and other provider-led procedures
• Bedside shift report is mandatory; relief charge nurses are expected to conduct nurse leader rounding

Required Qualifications

• Medical ICU experience (prior experience in a high-volume setting strongly preferred)
• Strong critical thinking, flexibility, and collaborative practice
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS (required)
• Scrubs: Navy blue or white

Guaranteed 36 hours per week for the duration of the 13-week contract.
