Emergency Department Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

Join the emergency department as a night-shift RN. You'll provide direct patient care in a high-acuity setting managing trauma, cardiac emergencies, strokes, and general emergency cases. This is a 13-week contract.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• First to float (you may be called to support other units as needed)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Matrix scheduling; the facility works to accommodate travel nurse preferences

Clinical Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and manage high-acuity patients
• Read and interpret EKG strips independently
• Manage common emergency drips (pressors, sedation, etc.)
• Collaborate with in-house physicians (24/7 MD coverage) and mid-level providers
• Work alongside 2 PCTs per shift and respiratory therapists
• 24/7 in-house security supports the unit

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years ER experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Advanced Dysrhythmia certification (83% pass required; three attempts provided)
• Current RN license

Orientation

1–3 shifts based on experience, with preceptorship and detailed check-off packet.

Dress Code

Navy scrubs; undershirts must be navy. Jackets optional (navy).

Scheduling Notes

Call-outs are strongly discouraged. Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
