Physical Therapist Assistant – Rehabilitation Unit

Position Overview

The facility's rehabilitation unit is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant for a 13-week contract. You'll work four 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–5:30 PM) with every third weekend required; potential exists for every other weekend scheduling. The unit operates 7 days a week with a team leader present when management is unavailable.

Clinical Scope

You'll support patients across multiple diagnoses including cardiac, stroke, orthopedic, ICU, neurological, and medical-surgical cases. The facility is stroke certified. A low-volume pediatric ward is present; NICU experience is not required for travelers and pediatric background is not mandatory.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification
• California PTA license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in physical therapy specialty
• Minimum 1 year of acute care hospital experience
• COVID vaccination required
• First-time travelers welcome

What to Expect

• 8 hours of floor-specific orientation
• No floating between units
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• Hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy available 24/7
• Holidays worked into permanent staff rotation
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

Dress Code

Burgundy polo-style or button-down long-sleeve shirt (provided by the hospital if desired), dark solid pants. No scrubs.
