Respiratory Therapist – 13-Week Contract

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join a busy, multi-unit acute care environment. You'll manage 30–40 patient treatments daily across inpatient and outpatient settings, working with diverse patient populations and high-acuity conditions.

Unit Details

You'll provide respiratory support across the Emergency Department, inpatient floors, pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, Nursery, ICU, Sleep Lab, OR, and PACU. Patient populations include adults, pediatrics, and neonates. Common diagnoses include STEMI, CVA, COVID-19, EKOS procedures, cardiac arrest, and IABP management.

A hospitalist or intensivist is available 24/7 to support clinical decisions.

Essential Duties

• Draw arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Perform occasional EKGs
• Assist with intubation (not independent)
• Manage mechanical ventilation and non-invasive respiratory support
• Respond to codes and acute respiratory events

Requirements

• Current RRT licensure
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (NRP preferred)
• Minimum 1 year respiratory therapy experience
• Ability to work flexible scheduling

Schedule & Expectations

• 3 × 12-hour day shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend
• Rotating holidays with permanent staff
• No call or standby requirement
• Typically no floating to other campuses
• Dress code: Wine burgundy scrubs

• 2-day department orientation
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 13-week contract
