Emergency Department – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Emergency Department nurse for night shifts. You'll work in a fast-paced, combined adult and pediatric ED environment managing diverse patient populations across all age groups—from neonates to geriatrics.

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: Night 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Contract Duration: 26 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Weekend Requirement: 3 out of 6

• Float Required: Yes—you will cover the Observation Unit (ER Hold patients) and may float to nearby facilities as needed

Clinical Scope

This ED handles high-acuity trauma and emergency cases including intubation, chest tube management, procedural sedation, blood product administration, IV vasopressors, dysrhythmia management, stroke and STEMI protocols, psychiatric holds, and care of ventilated patients. You'll manage presentations ranging from abdominal pain and asthma to traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burns, and multisystem organ failure. The facility is a Level 3 Trauma Center and Stroke Certified facility with EDAP (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics) designation.

Requirements

• License: Valid California state license (compact license required at submission)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (preferred in hand; can submit as screen if willing to complete before start), ENPC
• References: Two references covering 1 year within the last 3 years

• 40-hour orientation
• Two pre-approved days off
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
• All scheduling requests must be submitted during the application phase
