Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract | Eureka, CA
Nights | 13-Week Contract | Start: ASAP
This is an opportunity for an experienced Emergency Department RN to join a fast-paced, community-based ED serving a diverse patient population spanning neonates through geriatrics. The unit manages a high daily census with a broad clinical scope, including trauma, behavioral health, pediatric emergencies, and complex medical presentations.
Schedule & Assignment Details
- Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour shifts (18:00–06:00)
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Weekend requirement: 3 out of 6
- Float: Required — travelers will cover the Observation Unit for ER hold patients and may float to nearby sister facilities
- No call required
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Scrubs: Personal scrubs permitted; no prints
Clinical Scope
The ED is approved for pediatric emergencies (EDAP) and manages a wide range of conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, drug overdose, psychiatric holds, STEMI, respiratory emergencies, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, procedural sedation, and IV vasopressor administration. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, radiology, and social services.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of ED experience
- Valid California RN license required at time of submission (no pending licenses accepted)
- Compact license must be in hand at submission
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, ENPC, and TNCC (preferred in hand; candidates willing to obtain prior to start may be considered)
- 2 professional references covering the past 3 years required prior to start
- Holiday commitment: 3 of 5 designated holidays required
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of application
