Night Shift Registered Nurse – Med-Surg/PCU
Schedule & Contract
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- 13-week contract
- Every other weekend required
- Up to 7 days of pre-approved time off (no RTO during first week; must work 2 of 3 major holidays)
- 24-hour orientation
About the Unit
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- COPD exacerbations, ia, acute respiratory failure, and respiratory distress
- Chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, and non-invasive airway support
- Chronic tracheostomy and ventilator patients (no nurse carries more than one vent patient)
- COVID-19 and influenza patients
Required Skills & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience
- IV placement, ventilator management, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- First-time travelers welcome
Preferred
- NIHSS certification
Unit Resources
- Admission/discharge nurse
- Vascular access and IV teams
- Respiratory therapy support
- Rapid response and code teams
- Behavioral health services
Additional Requirements
- Float to similar units as staffing needs dictate
- White or navy blue scrubs (not provided)
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Strong teamwork and adherence to call-off policy
