Med/Surg Telemetry — Travel RN | Wilmington, NC

This Med/Surg Telemetry unit cares for a diverse adult patient population with diagnoses including COPD, ia, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, diabetes, dementia, encephalopathy, anemia, hip fracture, renal failure, UTI, hypertension, cellulitis, failure to thrive, and surgical recovery cases. An isolation area is available for COVID-positive patients.

Shift & Scheduling

• 12-hour day shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• 12–16 weekend shifts required per contract
• Up to 7 days RTO (no holidays; no RTO during first week; must be pre-approved before signing)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Floating required within the facility

Required Skills & Certifications

• Minimum 2 years Med/Surg or Telemetry experience
• BLS required; must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and remote telemetry monitoring
• IV insertion, peripheral/central line care, PICC line management, central line blood draws, phlebotomy
• IV insulin protocols, heparin, PCA management
• Blood product administration, pre/post hemodialysis management
• Chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning
• Colostomy care, feeding tube management, wound care/wound vac
• Isolation precautions/PPE

Preferred Skills

• Port access, tracheostomy management, ABG interpretation, surgical drains, CVA management

Additional Details

• Contract length: 13–26 weeks | Start date: November 2, 2026
• Orientation: 24 hours (hospital orientation during week one; daily class attendance required)
• Scrubs: Navy/Blue or White
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted
• North Carolina or Compact license required (pending OK for submission)
• Storm/Hurricane Team participation may be required
