Med Surg

Medical-Surgical RN — Night Shift | Wilmington, NC

This 13-week contract places you on a general Medical-Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients. The unit manages a broad range of diagnoses with an emphasis on collaborative, patient-centered care.

Shift & Schedule

• Nights: 18:45–07:15 (3x12-hour shifts per week)
• Every other weekend required
• Must be available for holidays (2 of 3 major holidays required)
• On-call as needed per pre-scheduled shift

Clinical Scope

• Adult and geriatric general Med/Surg population
• Procedures include heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high-flow oxygen
• Occasional short-term BiPAP support with respiratory assistance; no additional training required
• No PCU-level patients on this unit

Float & Coverage

Float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatient holding is required. Contract staff must also be available to serve on a Storm/Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact; pending license accepted at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience
• BLS required
• CPI preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift travelers
• First-time travelers accepted

Additional Details

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Navy
• EKG testing must be passed prior to start
• Monthly unit team meetings required (attendance is mandatory); night shift staff attend a follow-up meeting the Friday after each monthly meeting
• RTO after booking is not permitted; call-off policy is strictly enforced
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required
