Operating Room Nurse – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Operating Room Nurse for a 13-week contract on the night shift (18:45–07:15). You'll join a dynamic surgical team managing trauma, orthopedic, neurosurgery, vascular, and general surgical cases in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic nursing
• Current BLS certification
• Valid state license (compact license required at submission)
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Locals accepted (within 50-mile radius)

Schedule & On-Call

• Night shift: 3×12-hour (18:45–07:15)
• Rotating on-call every 6 weeks (up to 6–8 shifts per 6-week period, including nights, evenings, and weekends)
• Weekend coverage required as per unit needs
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• May need to cover one additional night shift as needed

Clinical Scope

You'll assist with a broad range of procedures including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, total joint replacements, craniotomy, carotid endarterectomy, robotic-assisted surgery, VATS, spinal fusion, and trauma cases. Daily surgical census averages 25 cases with patient populations spanning adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.

Staffing & Support

• Night staffing typically includes 1–2 RNs and 1 surgical tech
• Float required to sister facilities nearby as assigned
• Interdisciplinary support available (Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Rapid Response)
• Scrubs provided
• Free parking
