Neuro ICU | Travel RN | Carmichael, CA

Contract: 14 weeks | Shift: 12-Hour Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week | Start Date: October 13, 2026

This Neuro ICU opportunity places you in a dedicated neurological critical care unit with a strong stroke program and neuro surgical focus. The unit manages high-acuity patients including CVA, intracerebral hemorrhage, craniotomies, neuro interventional radiology cases, and ventriculostomies. Line insertions are routine, and telemetry monitoring is required — candidates must be able to read and interpret EKG strips. Ventilator management is part of practice. Intensivist/hospitalist coverage is in-house, with respiratory therapy and pharmacy support available around the clock.

Schedule & Logistics

• Every other weekend required
• Major holidays rotated with core staff
• Self-scheduling with 4-week advance visibility; OT and extra shifts available
• Floor-specific orientation: 1–2 days with a preceptor

Float Requirements

• First to float to sister facilities; mid-shift float to another facility is rare but possible

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Preferred Experience: Minimum 2 years in a Neuro ICU setting

Scrub Color: Navy; undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional but must be navy

Additional Requirements

• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months, one within 3 years)
• A competency exam must be completed and passed prior to contract signing
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year
